Co-ops can be so wide and various!
There is a type to meet all needs
And if you can't find the exact type you need...
start one yourself!!

This is Rob's family's first term with our co-op and, after watching how other parents have contributed learning activities each week, it was his turn to give it a go.
By tapping into the needs and interests of his kids, he identified that some team building activities may help them connect with their new friends.
He contributed some great activities combining stories, construction and getting-to-know you games.
Awesome work Rob! The kids had lots of fun!

For years I've been watching this story unfold for homeschool families. I love our community, but with freedom comes the added challenge of inconsistency.
Park plays and classes just didn't cut it for us.
My kids want consistent friends.
I want consistent friends.
So I started my own homeschool co-op.
It really is the answer.

When parents share the things that light them, that light is contagious!
Each week, our families take turns providing an activity for our co-op kids. This week Jeane shared her passion for drumming with the kids. We loved listening to her wonderful drumming 🥰 Then the kids made their own drums and shakers and used them for stories and songs 🥰

Little Mountain Folk are amazing women! Such a beautiful homeschool drop-off ❤

Run by two amazing 😉 facilitators. Alicia is a qualified teacher and also works as an assistant play therapy provider for @mindbubbles_ , and Michelle is a qualified educator who is also a First Nations Kabi Kabi consultant for the ECE community. Both Michelle and Alicia are passionate about social and emotional development for children and have undertaken professional development in this field to support their practice to give your little people the best start!

We are primarily an outdoor service with lots of space for our friends to move and play. We believe that play IS learning and have created our space to support this. We also have lots of calming and creative spaces to support children's creativity and innovation and the need for downtime to regulate during our busy days.

I've spent years supporting families to begin their homeschooling journeys, only to see an influx of kids choosing to return to school.

Why??

Our community is brimming with thousands of kids, social activities, meet-ups, drop-offs and classes. It's not like there is a lack of opportunity to socialise, right??

What's missing??

The one thing that school has over homeschooling?
A consistent, predictable cohort of kids to learn with and socialise with.
Even if the kids are horrible.
Even if the learning isn't happening.
Even if your child gets terrible anxiety going to school each day.
That deep, human need for a consistent connection, a tribe or village, can pull them back to school.

So how can our kids find their tribe?

When we build a community with intent, we can surround ourselves with humans that feel right to us.
For most of us, through school, through our work places, we have been told that we don't really have a choice in who we spend time with. Well, we can choose, but only within a group selected by someone else.

Let's write a new story for our kids.
Let's start with the intent of connecting with the kind of people who we can feel comfortable and at peace around.
Let's let our kids know that they don't need to spend time with people who make them feel bad about themselves.

First lesson of homeschooling...
WE HAVE FREEDOM. WE HAVE CHOICE.
